PT NewQuest Geotechnology Visits Sokoria Project Area

PT NewQuest Geotechnology in collaboration with Universitas Indonesia visited Kelimutu National Park in Sokoria, East Nusa Tenggara. This visit aims to investigate the potential impact of exploration drilling around Kelimutu Lake.

The team visited Sokoria on Saturday, August 5th 2017 till Wednesday, August 9th 2017. It consists of three members, Dr. Yunus Daud as geophysicist, Dr. Zainal Abidin as geochemist, and Rhyno Senbyla as geologist assistant. The activity is observing the geothermal manifestations around Sokoria and Kelimutu, as well as the point of the Sokoria drilling plan.

During the visit, team directly observed the geological conditions in Sokoria and Kelimutu areas to reinforce the results of many studies using secondary data. In addition, team also explored information and other points of view with the developer and the authority of Kelimutu National Park.

Sokoria located in East Ndona District, Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. It’s about 6 Km from Kelimutu Lake, the famous area with the beauty of three color lake. Dr. Yunus Daud said that the results of 3G (Geophysics, Geochemistry, and Geology) research in the region to provide scientific proof that drilling activities of Sokoria will not have a negative impact to Kelimutu Lake.
