PT NewQuest Geotechnology Signs MoU with Balitbang ESDM

On March 21st 2018, PT. NewQuest Geotechnology signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Research and Development Agency for Energy and Mineral Resources (Balitbang ESDM). Balitbang ESDM is a Public Service Agency (BLU) under The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia (Kementerian ESDM RI). Some of the tasks and functions of Balitbang are technical policies, plans and programs for research, technology development and engineering, assessment and surveys in the field of electricity, renewable energy and energy conservation.
The agreement is a strategic partnership. It would enhance geothermal technological know-how through mutual development and innovation. The MoU would also facilitate joint research for geothermal exploration and production. Furthermore, this is in line with government policy in boosting the utilization of renewable energy for power plant, and also strengthen Indonesia as one of the largest geothermal producers in the world. With an achievement of 1,924.5 MW it put Indonesia in second place in the world after the United States in utilizing geothermal power, shifting second position previously occupied by the Philippines.
“The collaboration will be mutually beneficial to both NQG and Balitbang as it will enhance skill and knowledge, mutual facilitation and encourage geothermal development in Indonesia. It’s a great responsibility for us to provide what the company has", said Dr. Yunus Daud, founder of NQG after MoU signing ceremony at the Balitbang ESDM office in Jakarta.
